Shen Wen Chinese Bistro

13816 Red Hill Avenue.
Tustin, CA 92780

The best Korean-Chinese food in Irvine/Tustin!

Shen Wen Chinese Bistro (Shin Won in Korean) is located on the corner of Red Hill and El Camino in the city of Tustin, CA. From the outside, it's easy to miss. The strip mall that it is located in is old, and dilapidated. However, once inside the ambiance is nice, the service is great, the prices are good, and the food isn't so bad either. Up to a year and a half ago, your choices for Korean-Chinese food (aka jjajangmyun places) in the Irvine/Tustin area were limited to Golden China off Newport Ave in Tustin, the food court inside the Freshia Market off Red Hill, or simply driving 20-30 minutes to Garden Grove to get really good Chinese food. But now there is a new choice when it comes to getting your fix of jjajangmyun (black bean noodles) or gampong saewoo (garlic fried shrimp) and you don't even have to drive to Garden Grove to get that really good quality Chinese food.

The prices at Shen Wen are comparable to other places. The Lunch Specials run from $6-8, the jjajangmyun is also in the normal $6-7 range. However there are two things that set apart Shen Wen from Golden China and even some of the Garden Grove spots. One, is that the lunch special dishes are distinctively better. The owner has been in the Chinese food business for 20 years, and it shows in the taste of the food. But secondly, the portions are HUGE. The $7.50 gampong saewoo lunch special came on a big plate and was about the size of a $16 dinner portion. Between two people, an order of lunch gampong saewoo and a split jjajangmyun was more than filling, and it all came out to less than $15.
